Notes on Optical Feedback Controller

Abstract

The Rubin Observatory active optics system (AOS) uses the optical feedback controller (OFC) to estimate the degree of freedom corrections of the telescope from wavefront error estimates obtained with WEP from out-of-focus images of stars. This note describes the theory behind different control approaches and derives the equations used by OFC.
